The best part: it is no bake, and this honey potato recipe only requires five ingredients with easy step-by-step guide to making them. Another thing that I love about this dish is that you can eat it as a side dish with most types of mains such as rice, steak, chicken or even just on its own to snack!
How to cook potatoes on the stove?
If you search for any potato recipes, you most likely might find that it is necessary to either fry the potatoes first or bake the potatoes after. Well lucky us, you will only need to cook this decadent honey garlic potatoes on the stove!
But, how do you that? By letting it simmer on the stove with the lid on for at least 20 minutes, not only will it soften the potatoes to cook perfectly well but it also gives the potatoes time to soak in all that juicy sauce too!
Is it better to boil potatoes before roasting?
Most of the time, it is better to boil potatoes first as it helps to soften the inner part of the potato whilst maintaining that crisp on the outside. However, this is not necessary, and it may be time consuming for some. Which is why, this is the best way to make them delicious honey garlic potato!
Ingredients you will need to make this honey garlic potatoes recipe:
- Baby potatoes: You can use any kind of potato of your choice but be sure to cut them lean or in smaller sizes so that it is easier to cook them and to gobble them down after!
- Sweet soy sauce: This sauce has a slightly thicker consistency to it and gives the balance of sweetness to the sauce
- Light soy sauce: Self-explanatory, this is a must have to get that savoury kick in the flavour
- Honey: Not only does it add that beautiful, sweet taste to the sauce but also thickens and provides a shimmery glaze to the evenly coated potatoes once done
- Minced garlic: You can either buy garlic cloves or readily minced garlic (like I do!) for this recipe. Garlic is meant to give that aromatic smell of the dish and taste
How do you make this honey garlic potato dish?
- Heat up small size wok with two tablespoons of oil of choice (we use olive oil) for about 2 minutes
- Add in two tablespoons of minced garlic and sauté until they turn slightly golden brown
- Add in the slice baby potatoes into the wok and toss them until nicely mixed with the garlic
- Put in the sweet soy sauce, light soy sauce and honey and mix them together until the potatoes are coated nicely
- Let it simmer on medium heat with the lid on for a good 15 – 20 mins.
- Check in and stir the potato every now and then to ensure they are coated evenly with the sauce and that they are cooked perfectly soft to eat

Ingredients

- 1.5 tbsp Light soy sauce
- 3 tbsp Sweet soy sauce
- 3 tbsp Honey
- 2 tbsp Garlic minced
